Geico only writes personal auto insurance. They do not write homeowners insurance. This can be a competitive disadvantage to Geico because many insurers offer multiple policy discounts. What this means for you, the consumer, is you get a discount on your premiums if you have your auto and home insurance with the same company.

To offset this competitive advantage, Geico has arranged partnerships around the country with insurers that specialize in homeowners insurance. This partnership gives Geico the ability to match the multiple policy discounts other insurance companies offer. Their partnerships are with different companies around the country. So to find out which insurer is partnered with Geico, you need to contact Geico dirrectly.

Why do insurance companies do this? For several reasons. It is cheaper for an insurance company to service multiple policies with the same customer than one policy. So they pass on the savings in overhead to the customer. Sometimes the insurance company uses the two policies to subsidize each other. So if  you have an accident with your car, the premium the insurer gets from your home insurance can sometimes subsidize the bad loss experience on the auto policy, and vice-versa.
