   Technically you do not have to have homeowners insurance. It is not required at this time by law in any of the states in the United States to the best of my knowledge. Your mortgage lender will typically require homeowners insurance coverage to protect themselves against loss in the event of a covered loss. There are way to many reasons to list here as to why you should have coverage. Please contact a local agent to discuss your coverage needs and concerns.
