A non US citizen can buy life insurance with most life insurance companies if he or she is a permanent United States resident (i.e. has a Green Card) or is legally working in the US temporarily (has an H-1B visa). Some companies will exclude coverage to anyone except a United States citizen, more often in the case of some simplified issue products.

Yes, there are many life insurance carriers that allow non United States citizens to purchase life insurance. However, in order to purchase life insurance you must be here legally. Either a permanent resident or "green card" and a proper Visa. I do not know of any life insurance companies that sell life insurance to those that are here illegally. There are several more life insurance carriers that require US citizenship. Contact a trusted life insurance broker to help you navigate the market to find the right type of life insurance company and policy for your unique situation.
