    Yes as I know all insurance carriers require a social security number. It is one of the questions asked on insurance applications. You might in addition what to check with your agent in which states you are writing the application with to ensure if this is needed. You can also check with your department of insurance of the state you reside in as well if you have additional concerns.

    I am not aware of any insurance carrier that will write life insurance without a social security number. All most all want proof of citizenship and they want to know the beneficiaries social security numbers as well. Our government does keep track of money even though life insurance proceeds are not taxable as income.
