Without the consent of your ex-wife the answer is no. The answer could also be no if there remains no insurable interest between you after the division of property. However if there are minor children involved and your domestic lifestyle was predicated on two incomes, insurable interest can be justified for the ongoing care and future of the children.

If you and/or your children would suffer financially by the death of your ex wife, you would likely have the insurable interest needed to take out a policy on her. She would need to sign the application and take an exam, if an exam is required. Many people use No Exam policies when procuring life insurance on ex spouses as it is much quicker and less stressful.
