Yes however you will most likely not get standard rates, depending on the severity.  A lot depends on the medications you are on, the reason for the PTSD, the doctors evaluation and the extent you are disabled due to the disorder.  Worst case you will be able to get a guaranteed issue plan.  Talk to an experienced agent about your situation.  A good independent agent can help find the plan that is best for you.

Can you get life insurance with PTSD?  It is going to depend on your individual situation. Health conditions are not always a yes  or no answer, but a maybe. PTSD is a maybe situation where you pre-underwrite with carriers to see whom will give you the best possible rate.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD) has a couple of diagnostic items to review that seem to accompany this psychiatric condition. PSTD has secondary complications such as drug and/or alcohol abuse is indicator that the recovery has not been initiated. Two other items are difficulty holding down a job or divorce, sometimes spousal abuse occurs. Some life insurance companies discriminate PTSD between domestic and combat orientation. Ongoing management medication may also debit the underwriting balance sheet. All health considerations taken into account, PTSD should be standard issue with most impaired risk life insurance companies.

Being on Disability while having PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) makes it difficult to get a medically underwritten life insurance policy. However, we have found one carrier that will issue a non-graded, no exam policy with this disorder, and there are many graded policies that can be had with PTSD severe enough to go on Disability.
