I have to take a small leap and assume you are talking about the death benefit you might have received or have received.  Life Insurance itself cannot be garnished however if the courts know you are receiving a death benefit, they may go after your bank accounts, etc.

Garnishments are generally taken from your salary at your place of employment.
If this does not answer your question, please elaborate and get back to me.
    Thank you.

If someone dies while having a garnishment against them, the beneficiary will not be subject to the garnishment that was against the insured person. If it is the beneficiary who has a garnishment against them, the amount of the insurance proceeds that can be garnished depends on the rules of the state. Consult an attorney if your wages are being garnished and you are set to become the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or have recently received proceeds of a life insurance policy.

If you are the beneficiary of a life insurance policy and it is the deceased who was under garnishment, your life insurance benefit cannot be garnished on behalf of the deceased. If you get a life insurance benefit and you are the one who owes money, federal and state law determine how much (if any) of the death benefit can be garnished.

That is a great question! If it is a creditor seeking payment for the deceased's debts, generally your payment as the beneficiary cannot be taken from you to satisfy the insured's debt. If you have a creditor that has learned that you've come into a large sum of money, that may be a different situation. In either case, you would be best served to seek legal advice, because as an agent, and not a lawyer, I cannot answer for you as a lawyer would. I hope that helps, thanks for asking!
