If you are on medicaid and cash out a life insurance policy and  the amount you receive is more than what they allow you to have as considerable income, then you will get cancelled from medicaid. Same true if you are a beneficiary on someone else's policy. I believe with medicaid, you cannot have more than $2000 in countable assets.
