To the best of my knowledge, you cannot purchase individual life insurance while you are pregnant.

Employer group life insurance plans, especially those that do not have medical underwriting questions, are one way for you to obtain additional life insurance while you are pregnant. Once the baby is delivered you are free to apply with any carrier.

As long as you are in good health and pregnant with no history of complications you are going to be considered insurable for underwritten individual life insurance at standard rates. Current pregnancy with complications such as gestational diabetes, toxemia, eclampsia or pre-eclampsia will likely result in a decline at most insurers.

You can purchase individual life insurance while pregnant. Most companies will not have a problem with the first two trimesters underwriting an individual who is pregnant and at that point experiencing a normal pregnancy without complications.  The third trimester is a bit more dicey as most carriers at that point may wish to wait until after childbirth to underwrite. I have written and had issued life insurance for people up to the 7th month without any extra premium or restrictions by the insurance company. It is going to depend on the health of the person and how the pregnancy is going.

Yes, you can obtain life insurance when pregnant. If your health is excellent and you fit the weight guideline for the preferred ratings, you can get rated Preferred or better. Even if you have gestational diabetes, you can get life insurance that is Standard or better, as long as it is well controlled.
