    If you are buying a life insurance policy that requires medical underwriting, it will test for certain illegal drugs, especially cocaine and marijuana. If you are purchasing a policy that not require an exam, no drug tests will be done. However, then the application will ask if you have taken illegal drugs withing a certain period of time.
