Finding a life insurance policy for a deceased person should start with a review of their records. You should look for receipts, payment coupons and any other reference to life insurance.

It is also possible they kept a notebook or other item with a list of policy numbers.

Using their social security number when contacting insurers will also help.

And if those don't work, give Peggy a call! (below my answer). She's a true expert!

To find the life insurance policy of a deceased person, Ed has great advice. You may also find that some insurance companies have been bought by other companies or changed names since the policy was purchased. You can google the old company name or call an agent who can help you locate the new company name and phone number.
