In order to sell life insurance you have to take the preparatory exam class required by the Insurance Commissioner in your State and then you have to sit for the State required exam. Typically you have to pay like $150 for the test material and then the exam testing center has another charge that will cost from $50 to $100. You have to pass the exam with a 70% or better testing result. When you pass the exam then you must complete the application to become an agent with the company of your choice
