This would be an additional policy probably offered by your employer or credit union that offers life insurance that covers only Accidental Death and Dismemberment.  This means it will only pay if you die in an accedent or loose a body part such as a hand, arm foot or leg.  These are usually very inexpensive and not a bad supplemental policy for younger ages.  They should never take the place of a full Life insurance policy however.

Supplemental AD&D (accidental death and dismemberment) policies are very expensive plans when you weigh the benefit against the likelihood of paying a benefit. Many times banks will offer you a free AD&D plan with your account.

Free is fine but I would never suggest buying additional coverage, not matter how small the premium.
