    A lot depends on your policy.  A good Long Term Care policy will cover not only Nursing Home, but also Assisted Living and Home Health Care.  Many will even pay a family member to care for your needs.  To begin receiving benefits you must be unable to perform at least 2 or 3 activities of daily living depending on your policy.  You policy will pay for the length of time and the amount specified in the policy, I usually recommend at least 3 to 5 years of coverage.  This is the average Nursing Home stay for Long Term custodial care.
