    Medicare Part B covers a wide range of diagnostic tests. Regarding ultrasounds being covered under Part B, the ultrasound must be completed on an outpatient basis and be deemed medically necessary to help diagnose a medical problem by your physician. If they're completed as an inpatient in a hospital, it would be covered by Part A.

    Part B will pay for 80% of the expenses - you're responsible for paying the other 20%. A Medicare supplement plan would cover these expenses.
