Medicare has changed in many ways over the years from the original hospital and doctor only coverage to a more comprehensive (and expensive) plan we have today.
Through the years coverage has been added for treatment by an HMO, speech and physical therapy including chiropractic. In recent years drug plans have been added as well as "private" Medicare Advantage plans
