Medicare covers most of the care received under hospice for those who are terminally ill. The services and supplies provided while under hospice are paid for fully by Medicare. There is a 5% charge of the hospitalization if a hospice patient is hospitalized so that their caregiver can have a respite. There is also a $5.00 co-pay for medications that provide relief of pain and/or symptoms.
