   Respite care is not covered under Medicare. Only procedures considered medically necessary are approved by Medicare.
   
   If you are in need of in home medicare care by a licensed and approved medical provider (nurse, therapist, doctor) Medicare may cover the treatment administered by the medical professional.
   
   There are special insurance policies you can purchase to cover at least a portion of home care.
