    Most people start getting Medicare benefits when they are 65 years old. Some wait until they are older to get Part B. Some get benefits when they are younger due to being on Social Security Disability for two years, or having End Stage Renal Disease or ALS that meets Medicare qualifications.

    If you become qualfied because of being on disability for 24 months age is not a restricting factor. For the individuals that have medical problems that cause their disability to be approved at an early age is able to get medicare coverage immediately upon reaching the "effective dates" for Part A and Part B shown on your medicare card
