The Railroad Retirement Board administers aspects of Medicare program in its role as administrators of the retirement/survivor and unemployment/sickness for railroad workers and their families under the Railroad Retirement Act and the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act. Railroad workers pay a Medicare tax similar to a Social Security Medicare tax.
