    Most people will become eligible for Medicare when they turn 65. If you are a US citizen or legal resident and have at least 40 Social Security wage quarters, have lived in the US for at least 5 years, you should be eligible for Medicare.

    If you are covered under a group health plan you may want to delay participation in Medicare Part B.
