    In most situations, Medicare does not cover items that are cosmetic in nature, but there are a few exceptions.

    Medicare recognizes that part of the healing process and recovery from cancer radiation treatment is the need for the patient to feel normal again.

    If hair loss is due to cancer therapy, Medicare will usually cover at least some of the cost of a wig.
