    Original Medicare has some coverage outside the United States, but is limited to the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and Puerto Rico. 

    In some situations Medicare will pay a portion of your hospital and outpatient medical bills if you have a true medical emergency.

    You should consider two things when traveling outside of the country. One is a Medigap policy that includes foreign medical coverage and two, an international travel medical plan.
