    Yes you certainly can! Typically the cheapest way to pay for the full year, but most companies (mine does) refunds all unused premiums.  I would suggest asking this of any company up front so they can inform you how they treat these situations.  Good luck in your search for renters insurance.

    Homeowner’s policies are traditionally one year policies.  However, if the policy is cancelled, the unused portion of the premium will be returned to you.  Most companies cancel policies using a pro rata cancellation.  That means that you will get exactly the percentage of the premium as the percentage of the remaining days of the policy.  Other companies use a “short rate” cancellation which will penalize you slightly for cancelling before the end of the policy period.
