    Some may, yes, but either way it is a smart idea.  If your landlord is making you get renters insrance as a condition of your lease, keep in mind it is only to protect their interests.  They want to make sure that you have liability coverage in the event you do something that either causes damage to their property or injury to another person.  That is only part of the reason that you should want to buy it.  Renters Insurance also provides coverage for your personal belongings - the things you would otherwise have to pay to replace if they were lost or damaged.
