An insurance policy pays for damages.  If there isn’t damage then there isn’t a source of a claim.  If theft has taken place and the thief had a key to the residence there are provisions that would tend to exclude a claim.  I have had a claim where a former resident entered the residence and robbed it.  That claim was covered.  I don’t believe that rekeying the premises was included in the settlement.
