Unfortunately this simple question needs a lot more details before it can be answered.  One must consider first of all where they live, the amount of liability coverage they want (protecting you if someone get's hurt in your space), the value of your personal property (in case it needs to be replaced due to a fire).  There are more questions as well but those are the biggy's.  You should first contact your auto insurance agent, as you may qualify for discounts for having multiple policies.

How much money would you need to replace your personal property?  If someone is hurt or property is damaged and you are legally liable, how much coverage do you want from your insurance company?  Your answer to these will set the price of a tenant’s policy.  Tenant’s policies are quite inexpensive.  For someone with $20,000 of contents living in an apartment in Fresno, CA, you could expect to pay around $10-20 per month.
