You will need your social security number, date of birth, the approximate value of your personal belongings including even minor items, and your address.  Renters Insurance is very easy to apply for and as long as the risk is acceptable to the company then you should have no problems.

Carriers will need your personal information date of birth address but it is not required to supply your social security number in Montana with most carriers. The most important part is the replacement cost of the value of you belongings. many get renters insurance and under value but this saves you no money in the event of a loss.
I recommend you talk to your state insurance commissioners office and they have recommendations of who can provide you with the proper coverage and what you need.

Mainly all you need is your personal information and address and contents information and should take no longer then 10 minutes to issue
