A renter’s policy, like all other insurance policies, is designed to protect you from an unacceptable risk.  The renter’s policy has two basic sections.  The first section will cover damages to your personal property.  That is not included in the landlord’s policy and is your responsibility.  The second section covers you should you be sued for personal injury or physical damages.  The cost of a lawsuit could easily bankrupt you.
