   The best renters insruance coverage is the one in force at the time of a loss. Reners insurance has 3 functions, protect your assets, protect you if you are sued, and pay medical bills if someone is hurt on your property. Getting the cheapest insurance is not always a good idea as the lower price tag often sacrifices coverage. It would be catastrophic to have $10k to protect yoru personal property if you needed $50k, or if you had $100k in liability coverage and you were sued for $500k. It's alwasys a good idea to first understand your need before you make a decision.
