A renter’s policy should provide sufficient liability coverage to handle a lawsuit should one arise.  The coverage is for personal injury and property damage.  Then the policy should provide enough coverage to make you “whole” should your property go up in smoke.  Remember that the landlord is not responsible in either of these situations.
