You buy a renter’s insurance policy from a trusted insurance agent.  If you don’t have an agent get recommendations from your friends, colleagues and neighbors.  The agent should listen to you, provide sound financial advice and communicate clearly with you and the insurance company.  The agent will help you choose appropriate limits of coverage.  The time of loss is not the time to discover that your limits were not adequate.
