It is important for Renters to have renters insurance so that their personal possessions can be replaced in the event of theft, fire, etc.
Typically the facility you are staying in has there own insurance but that does not cover the possessions of the tenants. In most cases from what I have seen, you will be required to have your insurance in order to move in.
