    Because without it you are putting yourself and your family at a potentially great financial risk in the event of an accident. An accident in your apartment that leaves a guest injured and medical bills, loss of work, etc. If you are deemed responsible and you don't have renter insurance then you and your family will have to foot the bill. Your building experiences a fire and everything is lost and you don't have renters insurance then you will have to come up with the money to find another place to live and the money to replace all of your personal belongings.
