Uber is an interesting new concept and with it there are new questions. Without reading your policy I can only give you a general answer but the personal auto policies I have read and studied have an exclusion related to the use of the auto to carry passengers for a fee without an endorsement modifying the limitation. I snagged this particular exclusion language for you from the ISO Personal Auto Policy (a common base for auto insurers to use in creating coverage): For that "insured's" liability arising out of ownership or operation of a vehicle while it is being used as a public or livery conveyance. Source: ISO Personal Auto Policy PP 00 01 01 05. There might be newer versions but this has been a longstanding limitation in the personal auto policy.
