I am assuming that you hit a car while YOU do not have insurance. In which case you are going to be responsible for the injuries or damage out of your own pocket. You may also be required to prove financial responsibility by demonstrating that you now have a policy in place to continue driving

If you hit a car and you are uninsured many states will hit you with a very large fine and possibly take your license away for up to a year. This is on top of what you will have to pay out of pocket for damages you caused. On the other hand if the car you hit is uninsured your insurance would pay for the repairs for damages you caused and the other guy gets his or her license taken away.
