    There are two products provided through Social Security: 1) Social Security Disability Insurance and 2) SSI, or Supplemental Security Income.

    Social Security Disability Insurance (commonly referred to as "Disability" is for people who have become disabled. They will get Medicare after receiving disability benefits for two years.

    Those on SSI are disabled or blind and also have limited income and resources. In most states, they are usually automatically eligible for Medicaid when they go on SSI.
