In general terms long term disability insurance ends at age 65. Disability insurance should not be canceled, especially if you’re still working. Although it is conceivable that you have saved enough money to pay your living expenses and future obligations and in that case you could consider canceling your disability insurance. But most “defensive” planning advisers recommend keeping it, especially as you become older and your health possibly being at risk.

If you are lucky enough to have enough cash reserves to cover you for the rest of your life in the case that you can no longer work ever again, then maybe, just maybe should you consider canceling your DI policy.  But for most people, you would never want to cancel since it is written for a specific amount of time for a reason.
