21st Century Insurance Company (direct) is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Farmers Insurance;  a full service insurance company utilizing the Agency system.   The system has proven to be expensive in the opinion of customers; the agency system is set up for clients to deal with their carrier through the agents for all inquiries creating a sales opportunity every time a client needs assistance.

21st Century specializes in discount preferred Auto Insurance and they do a great job at it!    The company itself does not offer Homeowners Insurance; their telephone representatives are trained to cross sell property insurance through their referral system.

Since their Auto Insurance is very inexpensive and they have a great track record,  most of their customer base have their property insurance placed independently.

    Owner, Insurance Browser,
Our colleagues at HDA give you a great answer about 21st Century. However a couple weeks ago I wrote coverage for a customer ( from 21st Century) with one of our agency's  top performing companies. . We were able to write the coverage for both auto and home with an ability to create over $700 in discounts on the homeowners for having the companion auto policy insured by the same carrier. Even on a jumbo home for our area $700 dollars is a lot of premium. Consider if you will that being a homeowner makes you a better credit risk and insurance risk, but offering only the auto or only the home is not as appealing to  many carriers as the whole account. Some carriers in fact offer common deductibles for the same event (such that a hail storm would require one deductible not one on each car and one on house) So, seriously consider the coverage upsides and downsides along with price in your comparison shopping.
