   It more than likely is an exclusion listed inside your homeowner policy but it pays to ask. Mold usually happens over time, thus can be prevented in most cases. Insurance is for sudden and accidental things happening to you, like a storm, wind or tree falling and damaging your home. Mold is neither sudden or accidental, it grows over time.
