Home and contents insurance is a form of insurance that pays for damage to your home or its contents from a number of select perils.  Some companies and websites use this expression instead of calling the policies, “homeowners.”  There is actually a range of these policies but the dominant policy used in the industry is the HO-3 homeowner’s form.

You seem to be describing a Homeowners Insurance Policy, or at least a portion of such a policy. Your home and personal property are covered for loss or damage due to a range of perils listed in your policy. Talk to your Insurance Professional about the specific terms and conditions of your policy. Any loss of course would be settled subject to your policy deductible. Keep in mind that in addition to what is covered, there are usually if not always two particular perils that are excluded from coverage, namely earth movement and flood. Earth movement may be endorsed onto your policy, but the ownly answer to cover yourself from loss due to a flood is separate Flood Insurance.
