Most Term Life Insurance polices do require a medical exam. There are "nonmed" policies that do not require an exam, and even some policies that require an exam will exempt low face amounts and/or children from having to take one.

The exam is free to the person applying for insurance, and can be done in one's own home, office or place of one's choice (including the exam company's office).

This will depend on how much life insurance coverage you are looking to buy.  If you are looking for an amount of $300,000 or less you can usually find term life insurance that does not require a medical exam.  This is called simplified issue term insurance.  It is generally more expensive than fully underwritten life insurance.

If you are looking for amounts higher than this, you will need to undergo a medical exam to qualify for insurance coverage.

It depends on the carrier, your age, and the amount of insurance. There are some carriers that require exams and others that just ask a handful of medical questions. In many cases, the less questions asked, the higher the premium is for the same coverage. In most cases, if the coverage is more than $250,000 of coverage, you WILL need an exam.

Some Term Life Insurance requires an exam and some Term policies do not. There are No Exam Term Life policies for up to $500,000. Therefore, you could get several policies and get up to $1,000,000 of coverage without having to take a paramed exam, if you wish.

For those with perfect health, taking an exam can usually save you some money. However, if you are overweight or have other minor health problems, No Exam Term can be surprisingly competitive.

For some people, the inconvenience of having to take off work to do the exam, or a dislike of needles, is worth the slightly higher price of getting nonmed Term Life. There are many life insurance policies that do not require a physical. Please do not hesitate to drop me an email if you'd like to see some options.
