When you should get life insurance depends on what your situation is and what you want to accomplish. For example, if you are married and have kids you might want to consider getting life insurance to make sure your family has the means to maintain their living style until the kids move out and/or get to college if a parent dies.

Life Insurance can replace lost income if a working spouse passes away. It can supplement future income needs. It can protect you business from a partners heirs getting half of the company upon death.

Now is a great time to get the protection you need.

The best time to get life insurance is while you are young and healthy, because the rates are lowest then. However, many people do not think of buying life insurance until they get older, and see that they were not able to save up what they thought they would. Or when they are diagnosed with an illness, and faced with their own mortality.

The cost will be higher at an older age, but your years for needing the policy will be shorter. And if you have a controlled health condition, you may still find some reasonable rates. Age and poor health do not eliminate the need for life insurance, and there are policies available to almost everyone.
