Long-term care insurance starts becoming more pricey during the mid-fifties.  One should seriously consider buying their long-term care insurance before then.

However, there are many solutions to the problem of possibly needing to pay for high-cost, end-of-life care.  A careful search on the Internet will show a number of ways to accommodate that risk.  The National Clearinghouse for Long-term Care is a good place to start:  http://www.longtermcare.gov/LTC/Main_Site/index.aspx
