Long Term Care Insurance is recommended for those who want to protect their assets in the event that they would need to use long term care services such as nursing home, assisted living, or home health services. It is also recommended for those who do not have family around to care for them, or who do not want to have to be restricted to what Medicaid dictates for their care. Long Term Care Insurance is not recommended for those who have very few assets, or for whom the premiums would be a hardship on their quality of life.

Is long term care recommended? Usually because there is statistical information about the population to support the need. People either get the need or they don't for long term care. What long term care offers is a choice for the insured when they have the need by creating a pool of money to pay for services. Everything costs and long term care does is provide a source of funds to pay for what you want vs. what you'll be given.
