    The difference between Life Insurance and Long Term Care Insurance is that Life Insurance pays the benefit to living beneficiaries upon the death of the insured persons, while Long Term Care Insurance pays the benefit to the insured persons (or to the facilities providing their care) if they can no longer take care of themselves.
