Medicare does not pay for Long Term Care needs such as a nursing home, assisted living or home healthcare.  In order to get coverage for this you will need a Long Term Care policy.  The cost of nursing homes keeps rising and currently can be $7,000-$8,000 per month if you don't have a Long Term Care plan.

A independent agent that specializes in Medicare Supplement plans and Long Term Care plans will be able to save you a lot of time in designing the right Long Term Care plan for your needs.

Medicare Benefits can pay for a lot of thing like critical access hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities and long-term care hospitals but when a person goes from needing rehabilitation services to long term care or custodial care, that’s when they draw the line.
It’s estimated that at least 70% of people over 65 will need long-term care support and services at some point. The cost of these services can dramatically drain your retirement nest egg but the cost of a lot of long term care policies can also be just as fighting. A simple cost effective option for most families is to look at a short term care plan. The cost is substantially lower than long term care policies, the underwriting process is much easier and most policy can be put in force in under a week.
