Renter’s insurance is known as a Tenant’s policy.  The most important coverage is personal liability where the company promises to pay when you are legally liable for claims arising from bodily injury or property damage.  The second most important coverage is for your personal property.  The landlord is not responsible for your property.  If there is a “covered loss” your only recourse for lost property is your tenant’s policy.  There are additional coverages, some of which are included.
