    Well that is a question for which the best answer is that it depends. Most carriers use rate differential on age. There is a much higher correlation of accidents involving youthful operators than with drivers who are more mature.Having said that, there are then refinements in each carrier's rate methodology to develop the proper rate for them for the exposure presented. That often means that there are millions and millions of possible price points for an insurer in any given state.
    So, some insurers will define operators under age 25 uniformly or they may adjust at each age between licensing age ( usually 16) and the age of 25. Some carriers further refine this with segmentation down to six month increments, so some one is 18 and one half might have a lower rate then someone who as just turned 18.The best advice I can give you is visit with an independent agent who represents many companies so you can really compare for yourself and your situation.
