    Yes, if you have disability insurance and you become sick or injured to the point where you can't work, and if whatever is disabling you wasn't excluded in your policy (pre-existing conditions are often excluded), you will receive benefits.  If you start searching for an insurance agent, you'll find that many of today's agents are advocates of DI because they were once disabled and received benefits from their own policy.
